Our story, since 1983

In 1983 Drs. Sutton and Jacquelene Farnham opened a dental practice in Mandarin, when San Jose Blvd was only two lanes. Their son grew up watching them help people, went away to train, and came home to carry the torch.

Dr. MacK is picking up where his parents left off, and some of our patients have been coming since the 1980s.

How a visit feels

A No Judgement Zone, and on time.

Most of us have met a rushed or belittling healthcare professional somewhere. Our staff, hygienists and dentists treat you with kindness and respect, and these are the three ways that shows.

A Farnham Dentistry hygienist and a patient smiling, holding an I love my hygienist sign.
01

No judgement, however long it has been

The problem: putting the dentist off for years, then dreading the lecture.

Our treatment philosophy is conservative care. We suggest what is best for your oral health, avoid unnecessary treatment, and would rather prevent problems than fix one broken tooth at a time.

02

On time, because we ask the same of you

The problem: an office that punishes you for being late, then runs late itself.

We have made a commitment to be on time for our appointments. And rather than several trips, we will find a time when the whole family can come in together.

03

Gentle by design, with a dog on staff

The problem: the needle, and the nerves before it.

The Wand delivers local anesthetic by computer, with almost no pain and no syringe. Sedation dentistry is there for higher anxiety or longer visits. And Nugget, a certified therapy dog, is in twice a week.

Dentistry in Mandarin

Nearly everything, from one office.

Same Day Crowns

CEREC designs and mills an E.max ceramic crown in our Jacksonville office, so there is no temporary and no second visit. It usually takes about two hours.

Dental Implants

An artificial root placed in the jaw. Bone grafting can make implants possible for people with bone loss, and implants can hold a loose denture firmly in place.

Invisalign

Clear aligners worn 22 to 24 hours a day and changed weekly, with a check about every three weeks. Most cases take 12 to 18 months. The consultation is free.

Zoom! Whitening

Up to six shades lighter in about an hour, or a supervised home kit over one to two weeks. White for Life adds free whitening gel after each check-up.

Technology

Made here, often the same day.

Digital scanning, computer-aided design and a milling unit in the office mean crowns and veneers do not have to leave the building, and you do not have to come back for them.

  • CEREC same-day crownsDigital images of the prepared tooth, a crown designed on screen, then milled from E.max ceramic while you wait.
  • Digitally designed veneersPrepared teeth are scanned in the office and the veneers made here, sometimes the very same day.
  • The WandComputer-controlled anesthetic delivery with real-time monitoring, almost no pain and no syringe.
  • Laser bacterial reductionA low-wattage diode laser treats the gum pockets around every tooth in about five minutes, with no anesthesia. $36 per treatment.

Children & families

Bring the kids to your own appointment.

Children who come along to a parent's visit see the office and meet the team before it is their turn, and are more relaxed for their first exam. We are happy to book several family members at the same time.

  1. A first visit around the first birthday, then every six months
  2. Exams, child cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants
  3. Bring a favorite toy, or an older sibling, to the first appointment
  4. Our goal: a child who looks forward to coming back

Giving back

Dentistry beyond our own chairs.

Dr. MacK has volunteered his time in Central and South America since high school, and closer to home as well. Teaching oral hygiene, in his words, is one of the most rewarding parts of this profession.

  • The Sulzbacher Center, JacksonvilleHe practices dentistry as a volunteer at the Sulzbacher Center, which helps people move out of homelessness.

Common questions

What people ask before they book.

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept certain insurance plans, so please call us on (904) 262-2551 with your plan's details. If you have no dental insurance, the Farnham Dental Savings Plan costs $289 a year per adult and $262 per child, with no yearly maximums, deductibles or waiting periods.

I am nervous, or it has been years. Can you help?

Tell us when you call. Our office is a No Judgement Zone. We use The Wand, a computer-controlled system that gives local anesthetic with almost no pain and without a syringe, and sedation dentistry is available for higher anxiety or longer treatment.

Can I really get a crown in one visit?

Often, yes. Our CEREC system designs and mills an E.max ceramic crown in the office, so there is no temporary crown and no second appointment. It usually takes about two hours.

What should I do in a dental emergency?

Call the office as soon as possible on (904) 262-2551, whether it is sudden tooth pain, a tooth bumped loose or another emergency. Addressing it quickly can often mean a much better outcome.

When should my child first see a dentist?

Around their first birthday, as the American Dental Association recommends, and every six months after that. Bringing them along to your own appointment first helps them get used to the office and meet the team.

How often should I come in?

Every six months for your regular examination. If a problem comes up in between, call and book rather than waiting for the next visit: the sooner it is addressed, the easier it is to resolve.
